Teaching

The Institute of Baltic Region History and Archaeology supervises three 1st and 2nd cycle study programmes with about 50 students.

1st cycle History studies in the Lithuanian language at KU have been carried out since 1993. In 2014, the 1st cycle study programme of Archaeology in the Lithuanian language was launched. In 2018, the two separate study programmes of History and Archaeology were reorganized into one 1st cycle study programme of Archaeology and History. In 2019, the Institute launched the 1st cycle programme History of Europe. The programme is delivered in a foreign language (Russian).

2nd cycle study programme Baltic History in the Lithuanian language has been carried out since 1997.

The Institute also conducts doctoral studies in the field of History and Archaeology.

The Institute’s Governing Body, the Director, the Committee of Study Fields in Archaeology and History, and the Head of BRIAI Study Programmes are directly responsible for the study programmes. Their functions and responsibilities are specified in the Klaipėda University Statute (2012), the Klaipėda University Description of the Activities and Appointment Procedure of the Head of Study Programme (2018), and the Klaipėda University Regulations of the Study Field Committee (2020).

Dr Vykintas Vaitkevičius is Head of the Study Programmes.
