Klaipeda University to host its first Job Fair of such scale: businesses and young people are invited to connect

On October 9, Klaipeda University (KU) Job Fair will take place at Švyturys Arena, Klaipėda. This is the first meeting of such scale between the academic community and business. It is an ambitious platform, where knowledge, experience, and career opportunities come together. The Fair is designed not only to help young people plan their professional future, but also to promote the competitiveness of the region.

The event will provide companies with a unique opportunity to interact directly with motivated students and pupils, and young people will be able to learn about various business areas, gain practical experience in a chosen field, and discover their place in the job market.

“The Job Fair is an investment not only in the future of the company, but also in the professional growth of the entire region. We invite Lithuanian businesses to actively participate and become part of this initiative,” says Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, KU Rector.

The event’s slogan, “YOUR CAREER: CHOOSE AND ACT”, reflects KU’s strategic goal of promoting conscious career planning, strengthening the link between science and business, and fostering self-confidence in young people’s decisions to stay, return, or build their future in Klaipėda.

An ambitious goal – a hundred employers and thousands of conversations

One of the main highlights of the event is a Contact Fair, where Klaipeda University aims to bring together over 100 employers from different sectors. This is an opportunity for young people not only to get to know companies, but also to establish valuable contacts, discuss internship opportunities, or even receive a specific job offer.

The event welcomes large employers, creative businesses, social projects, and organizations that help shape not only careers, but also personal growth.

At KU Job Fair, study programs will be presented through interactive, experiential activities that allow pupils and students to try out a career. In the interactive space, young people will have the opportunity to try out what it means to work in a particular field, which will help them better understand which field of study is best suited to them.

There will also be an area for KU student clubs and organizations offering the opportunity to join KU community and grow not only as a student, but also as an individual.

The Fair will feature practical skills workshops, where students and pupils will be able to learn how to write a proper resume (CV) and prepare for a job interview.

Well-known Lithuanian personalities will share their career stories: choices, unexpected success, and bold changes that inspired them to follow their own path. Participants will be able to relax in the event’s lounge area in a pleasant atmosphere with music, informal conversation, and snacks.

“We believe that events like this change the way people think about their career and a place where they can build it – they inspire them to stay, return, or start here – in Klaipėda. I invite employers to get involved and young people to look for answers, where they truly have value,” says KU Rector.

Olivija Vaidak, President of KU Student Union, believes that the Job Fair will help broaden horizons and discover valuable information that often remains “invisible” in everyday academic life.

“This event creates mutual benefits – employers can discover motivated young people, and students can establish contacts that may become a springboard to their professional future,” says O. Vaidak.

The importance of the event is also emphasized by partners

The event is organized in cooperation with partners: KU Future Support Fund and Klaipėda Association of Industrialists.

Vytautas Adomaitis, CEO at KU Future Support Fund, emphasizes that the Career Day is one of the most effective platforms, where business meets young people and both sides can get a feel for the market.

According to Jolanta Girdvainė, CEO at Klaipėda Association of Industrialists, most members of the Association are socially responsible employers, who get involved in career events not only because of a manpower shortage. The main motivation is to show what modern business and industrial culture are really like.

“Close ties with the University allow us to understand what businesses competing in global markets are hungry for today,” says J. Girdvainė.

She also emphasizes that communicating with students is like professional hygiene—a necessary and beneficial process for both sides. At such meetings, employers talk not only about career opportunities, but also about Klaipėda as a city with good living and working conditions. Everything is within easy reach here: the University, workplaces, the sea, and the city center are just a few minutes away.

Business success is determined by people

The first participant in the Job Fair was Western Shipyard. Arnoldas Šileika, the company’s CEO, emphasizes that it is dedicated employees, who determine the success of a company.

“As the largest employer in western Lithuania, uniting 20 companies, we understand perfectly well that people are the foundation of every unique project and every success story. That is why we particularly value opportunities to meet young people in person, engage in meaningful dialogue, and share insights personally,” says A. Šileika.
