The event drew hundreds of students, lecturers, researchers, and alumni from Klaipeda University, the Klaipėda Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences, LCC International University, Lithuania Business University of Applied Sciences, and the Klaipėda Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. University leaders, partners, and Lina Šukytė-Korsakė, Chair of the Health Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania and a KU alumna, also joined the celebration.
“This initiative was born out of a desire to unite the entire academic community of Klaipėda. The beginning of the academic year is a special time when new plans, ideas, and goals emerge. Only by acting together can we achieve them faster and more effectively. ‘UžsiKUriam’ is our common step toward a stronger, more creative, and united academic Klaipėda,” emphasized KU Rector Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas.
The significance of the event was also highlighted by leaders of other higher education institutions. According to them, this initiative is not only an excellent start to the new academic year but also a foundation for closer cooperation within the academic community.
The program of the celebration was as diverse as the academic community itself: participants enjoyed live music, tasted various picnic dishes, took part in orienteering competitions, and tested their knowledge in a quiz. The atmosphere was filled with energy, good spirits, and new connections.
The highlight of the evening was a concert by the band Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio dantys, which drew a crowd of dancing and singing participants to the Botanical Garden.
The “UžsiKUriam” picnic also symbolically marked the beginning of Klaipėda University’s 35th academic season, reaffirming once again that a modern university is open to the city, its people, and partnerships.
